Ruffle ![]() A really depressing photo I know. Was passing by the library on the way to Starbucks and this graphic novel kinda enticed me. "Auschwitz" the title shares its name with one of the many infamous extermination camp during the Nazi' somewhat supremacy and quest for the master race: Arian. Its Hitler's apparent view of a perfect race and in order to achieve this, he planned to wipe out the other races. This action is called genocide. The novel began with this really morbid intro and the background being a destroyed tower: After the dawn of civilization, the Christians declared "If you remain Jews, you shall not live amongst us". In the Middle Ages, leaders decided "You shall no longer live amongst us." Finally, the Nazis decreed:"You shall no longer live". The novel containsmany philosophical messages. And as somewhat of an atheist, it allowed me to analyze it further without my thoughts and views being taboo. The persecution of Jews throughout history has led me to think about religion. Christianity teacher people to "Love one another". In my opinion, this is a delusion! To avoid another Auschwitz, we have to face up to the contradictions at the heart of human nature. It isn't utopian to think that we can "hate each other in peace". What I propose may seem rather drastic but its results from my deepest convictions. If you compare what religious programs say to the actual discourse that goes on in private within Muslim, Jewish, Christian communities, the contrast is so great that it makes any true brotherly love impossible! The story tells of the power religion has to seperate people. Members of each side think they own the truth, and they want to convince the other side that they are right. Thats what is so dangerous. Reading through that, I realized thats the best philosophical break down since ever! Well today went pretty good really. I went to town instead. Sat down and thought for a while, then decided to go to school as I don't wanna let my parents and peeps down. Missed a good bit of technology and business so those are gone, I'm fine. Its just that I was very tired this morning. The night before, I was up finishing this book that I borrowed. One of my flaws, I get easily addicted xD Anywho, gotta go, need rest for tomorrow Ciao! i tried to fly; 3:39 PM |
